JOSE MOURINHO: Enemy of Football or a Serial Winner?

The Manchester United manager started the 2017/18 campaign in a tremendous fashion, with scintillating performances from his team. The United manager raised the hope of United faithfuls to dream again. All were rosy and blooming, the Manchester United twitter handle were tweeting "Top Of The League" with emojis. Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial, Rashford, Matic, Lukaku and Pogba were getting the love. Manchester United were also impressive in the UEFA Champions League.

There were concerns and strong anticipation on how Manchester United will fare against the top 6 teams in the league, but United fans dont care, as far as Matic keeps "Freeing Up" Pogba and Martial, Mkhitaryan, Lukaku and Rashford are delivering.

Then the big test arrived Liverpool vs Manchester United, Manchester United free-scoring team were the favourite having scored lots of goals and conceding just two against a team with terrible defence. Manchester United had to play without Pogba (Injured during the Champions League game at Old Trafford), Fellaini out injured too. The game ended in a goalless draw with United spending most of the afternoon trying not to concede rather than scoring which isn't going fine with the "The Manchester United Way" which equals to "ATTACK".

This is against a Liverpool team that has lost just twice against Top 6 opposition in two years at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp. Defeat at Huddersfield also did not help matters with lots of United players out injured. However, that is not an excuse, because if we need Pogba to beat Huddersfield then we are in big trouble.

The rage United fans are purging right at Jose is understandable, but doesn't mean we United fans haven't witness it before even under the Great Sir Alex Ferguson. The Scot's approach might not look exactly like Jose's but we can agree they both are similar. Don't be blinded by the firing, free scoring, adrenaline rush of goals of Sir Alex Man United. Sir Alex could be pragmatic too.

Let me refresh your memory a little bit back to April 23rd, 2008 where Manchester United had to absorb Barcelona to get a 0-0 draw at Camp Nou. This match shows Rooney playing almost as a right back for Manchester United (Identical to Eto'o performance during Barcelona vs Inter right? yes) . United ended the match with ONE SHOT on target, a team that fielded Rooney, Ronaldo & Tevez. United went on to score an early goal during the second leg at Old Trafford and every United fan were on the edge of their seat hoping we dont concede an away goal with a Ferdinand x Vidic masterclass till final whistle.

Another one, Real Madrid vs Manchester Unted, where we set up to stifle the Jose Mourinho team. The second leg also had Ferguson benching Wayne Rooney for Welbeck because of Danny's "Defensive duties against Alonso". Defensive approach as always been Sir Alex Ferguson's forte too.

Here is my question, Even though it was a different Pep Barcelona and Rijkaard Barcelona, did you notice the 2 times Ferguson tried attacking Barcelona we were beaten and outplayed? Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan pragmatic approach against Barcelona would forever be remembered but no one will forever praise Sir Alex for losing respectfully to Barcelona (There is no trophy for that). Honestly, do you think "The Defensive Mourinho" would have lost two finals against Barcelona? (That's a story for another day)

An Arsenal team got massacred by Liverpool for trying to attack but not good defensively as a unit. Mourinho style can be tiring and boring when he wants result ( I get angry too) but every United fan should know already what we've signed up for by hiring Jose, ranting would be hypocritical right now.

Also, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City's amazing football artistry form is not going to help the anti-Jose to stop demanding the best football. Every United fan is jealous of how Manchester City are churning out goals and it seem as if the league is won already, but then we still have over 20 league games to play.

Jurgen Klopp has been playing "Heavy Metal - GengenPressing Football" but his win ration is worse than Brendan Rodgers and David Moyes at Manchester United. Jose Mourinho won the two trophies Klopp lost in his stints in a final at Liverpool.

Finally, I have my worry/concerns over Jose Mourinho's pragmatic approach but this has been a better time to be a United fan compared to the nightmare of  Moyes and LVG. Louis Van Gaal won against big teams during his 2 years at United and the best he could show for it was a Top 4 and FA Cup which Jose has done better in one season.

This is the time to be patient with this Manchester United side because i know something great will come out of this darling team.
