Bricklayer raped 13-year-old neighbor
A bricklayer, Dayo Samuel, was arrested by the Ondo State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in the Ijoka area of Akure, Ondo State.
The 35-year-old bricklayer reportedly sexually abused the victim long before he was arrested.
The victim would be the daughter of the suspect's neighbor. The suspect was paraded at the headquarters of the order in Akure by the state commander of the NSCDC, Mr. Pedro Awili.
The commander of the NSCDC, who said that the suspect "would certainly meet the rage of the law," explained that Samuel had threatened to kill the victim if she told someone that he had soiled her.
He said, however, that the victim had told her mother, who reported to the corps, which led to Samuel's arrest.
Awili said: "Abuse and pollution of minors is a recurring crime in Ondo State and NSCDC is working with other security agencies to ensure that the trend is ended in the state.
"The suspect will soon be brought to justice after completing the investigation."
He called on the people of the state to work with the command by sharing safety information so that the NSCDC could fulfill its mandate.
The 13-year-old victim said the suspect gave her N50 or groundnuts to lure her.
She said, "He'd give me money or groundnuts before I'd have sex with me, I told my mother later, it's my mother who told the civilian people to arrest him."
However, the defendant denied the allegation and said that the victim's mother always had a fight with him and was looking for ways to get him.
"I have not defiled the girl, the woman and her child do not tell the truth," he said.
