UK Records First Case Of Monkeypox Via A Nigerian
The first case of monkey pox is included in the United Kingdom. The rare viral infection was recorded Friday by a Nigerian citizen who resided at a naval base in Cornwall, according to Public Health England (PHE).
The patient was transferred to the infectious diseases unit at Royal Free Hospital in London on Saturday morning.
It is thought that they contracted the infection in Nigeria before traveling to the United Kingdom.
PHE said that monkeypox does not spread easily and that most patients recover within a few weeks, but in some people it can cause serious illness.
